Father, please send Jesus back to this earth soon.
God has said that his kingdom is to be on earth. After all he created it and everything in it. He promised that those who please him will have a place in it. That was why Jesus rose from the dead on the third day; to show us that there is a resurrection from the dead.
Many people believe in resurrection. One of most famous declarations in in John 11:24,25 when
"Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:"
This shows us two things: that there will be a resurrection at the last day, and that to be saved we need to believe in Jesus.
So why do people believe in going to heaven?
The Bible records only two people going to heaven: Elijah and Jesus. It states categorically that no one has. Acts 2:34 says this of David, who was declared to be a man after God's own heart, "For David is not ascended into the heavens". If David couldn't ascend to Heaven , then what chance have we got?
Fortunately this point is nothing to do with Christianity, because God has declared that his kingdom will be on earth, and that Jesus will return to set it up.
In Acts 1:11 we have these words, spoken by the Angels as Jesus ascended up into Heaven; "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." 1 Thess 4:13-18 has an even better description that I'll leave you to look up for yourself.
Jesus will descend from the clouds to earth. Quite a few people take this even further. Just as Jesus left from the Mount of Olives, they also believe he will return to the same place.
So what has this got to do with us? Jesus is going to return whether people want him to or not. Some people won't want him in their lives, just as some didn't when Jesus was on earth during his ministry. We read from the scriptures what it will be like. Those who try to oppose Jesus will be destroyed, while those who find favour with him will be rewarded.
