Christ's Return – Part 3

Prayer:

Come, Lord Jesus

So far we've looked at the plan and the first stage of getting it under way. This week we look at what our role is to be.

There's been quite a few novels and books written on how the 'little people' can have quite an impact on a major historical event. If you're a Tolkien fan, this should remind you of 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings'. Both books center around 'little folk' you are over looked in the grand scheme of things, but end up playing the most important part.

While both are light fiction, they were actually written to bring home the above moral (being written as part of the war effort in the 1940's)

We can take the same meaning from the Bible. While there are great kings and emperors, it was the humble beginnings of Jesus that we look to (and remember David was a shepherd, before becoming king).

Paul's first letter to the Corinthians has these words in the opening chapter; "For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:"

To us, these are very important words. In the grand scheme of things we're not mighty, or important for that matter. But God has offered us a chance to become part of something greater than anyone can imagine.

So the question then needs to be asked; what do I need to do to be saved?

This question was asked by the keeper of the prison at Philippi. I'm not sure whether he was thinking of something totally different when he asked the question. But the reply he got applies to us just as much today.

The answer was "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

Questions

Jesus left us with few direct commandment before he ascended into heaven. What were they?
